For the 2019-2020 Basketball Season the team voted for two captains. The team chose Seniors Lexie Kreizel and Elayne Poppe! Both of these girls have been a part of the girls basketball program for all 4 years of high school. This includes being varsity members from freshman year. These two girls have been huge contributors to this team throughout their careers.
Lexie Kreizel was a key member for the team. As our best defensive player Lexie often got the joy of face guarding the opponents best player. There are many great experiences and stories to come from this as that player would get very upset with her. While she was a great defender she is also very versatile. Having played post in middle school, she could do it if needed. She would go from being more of a post role to the point guard. Lexie Kreizel did it all. On offense Lexie was not usually the leading scorer but she hit important shots when they were needed. this could even include her personal high of four 3-pointers on senior night against Ralston. Lexie was a key member of this team. Her wisdom for the game and versatility will be greatly missed. not only this but also her outstanding leadership.
Elayne Poppe was also a very valuable player for the Warriors. As one our leading scorers and best shooters she was often the go-to in a tight game. There was a lot of pressure put on her to be a scorer for the team. Whether it was to shoot the three or driving in, the team trusted Elayne to make it. If she missed there was a good chance she was getting the rebound, working her butt off to steal the ball back, or possibly getting a foul. Elayne had high expectations for herself and the team. She worked hard to try and achieve these goals. Along with being a key offensive player, she was a great defender. She was a very wise player that was able to come out with lots of steals and rebounds. Off the court, Elayne was a fun teammate. She has great dance moves that are always fun to watch. Elayne’s effort and drive have been key elements for the team not only in this past season but throughout her whole career.
Lexie and Elayne will both be greatly missed. The team is grateful for all that they have done.
Lexie and Elayne have been some of the best captains that I’ve had the honor of playing with. The way they always try to encourage others to work hard and stay positive, especially when our season was very difficult, was really helpful and greatly needed. Not only did they push the team to be better, but they also pushed themselves to be the best they could be for the team. They did a good job of making sure everyone was included, not just upperclassmen. I love them both so much and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.

It has been amazing getting to spend the last two years playing basketball with these two girls. I love being on the court with them. Even off the court these girls have grown to be my best friends and I am so thankful for the time i’ve gotten to spend with them!

Lexie and Elayne were the most hard working, and encouraging captains i have ever had in any sport. they always led by example as they worked hard in everything they did and constantly pushed everyone on the team to be the best they can be on and off the court.
